Moving Brains is the product of Dr. Jose C. Cabassa and his expanding Neurology and Movement Disorders practice. Dr. Jose C. Cabassa is a highly trained and experienced neurologist treating patients in East Harlem and the greater New York City area. He combines an “old-fashioned” clinical approach and bedside manner with up-to-date knowledge, testing and medical treatments.
The goal is to come up with a personalized, patient-oriented and common sense plan for each person. He also works with the patient and family to educate them about their condition(s), realistic goals, possible necessary lifestyle modifications, like exercise and diet, and reducing unnecessary (and possibly harmful) medications. He will work with other doctors and healthcare/fitness providers to find the best possible options for a patient’s overall care and well-being.

As a Neurologist and Movement Disorders specialist, the name “Moving Brains” reflects my general philosophy of clinical practice: focus on daytime mobility, function and well-being, to enhance and extent quality of life and decrease injuries and other health risks in healthy individuals, the aging population, and in patients with neurological conditions. The human body was “designed” to be in motion to maintain brain health. Many diseases or disorders are attributed to lack of or abnormal mobility (directly or indirectly). “Moving Brains” highlights this focus of my practice, to create a partnership that encourages people to take charge of their brain health, with the goal of remaining physically and mentally active, and to enjoy life.
